My background in client-centric graphic design and corporate work environment have prepared me for managing multiple projects on a tight timeline. Here you will find some examples of the things I have produced for the Longhorns Don't Litter organization at UT Austin.
Instagram Posts Graphics
A huge driver of student participation is an appealing and consistently branded instagram page that is informative but also inviting! A big role for me on the creative team was producing unique and engaging graphics and posts for our social media presence. Especially as we begin our journey as a student organization, this was an opportunity to establish our brand identity but also convey information about who we are!
For our Valentine's post for our instagram feed, the content request via the form was for something "fun" with "unique artwork" that would be "engaging for student" but still advertised the Longhorns Don't Litter brand.
My plan was to highlight the elements of the creek that we "love" for Valentines. Other iterations included puns on classic Valentines sayings, but using these heart candies allowed me to use photos of the club and tie them in by adding a small heart graphic on each. I also wanted two art/graphics-only pages that mimicked the Waterloo Greenway brand book that the previous semester really liked! I used a bold font, dark background, and fun abstract blob visuals to blend the LDL brand with that case study.
Another social media request was for an "About LDL" post. The request included "explain the club (cleanups, opportunities, community, etc) just a general post about the club that will be pinned on the top of our Instagram page." The requested style was "fun, scrapbook, can be multiple slides."
My goal was to follow the branding visual guidelines, use photos of the creek, be very informative, and end with a call to action! The elevator pitch stats were made to pop, while the details of the formation of the student org were consolidated to fit onto one slide, just before the call to action. While I wanted the description of the club to be concise, the reader still needed to walk away with a good understanding of what LDL is. To do this, I dedicated one slide, the 4th one, to being more text-heavy but tried to keep the rest more visual.
This post is now pinned at the very top of our Instagram page!
Initial club meeting post was requested to advertize our first meeting as a student organization.
A second post was requested to further advertise the meeting and request RSVPs
Feedback was very positive from the inital meeting post, so a re-usable template was made for club meeting announcements so they stand out on our instagram and can be used by the future social media team!
This post was requested to advertise our available leaderhsip positions for the student organization.
A matching instagram story was also requested to be posted separately to continue advertising the positions.
Instagram Story Templates
Story templates for repeated and adapted use, ranging from announcements to agendas and more! Made in response to requests from Socials Team to have more readily available templates rather than submitting requests for each one.
I created a series of proofs based on the branding guidelines in the template! Then shared them on Slack and our group chat for team discussion and selection before sending them to production.
Earth Day Poster
To spread awareness of Waller Creek on campus, my idea for a poster was an informative but also aesthetic map of Waller Creek within the context of campus. I wanted to include the watershed to emphasize that the entire UT campus drains to Waller Creek. Many design and color iterations were done and I collaborated with faculty in the School of Design to reach this final product! The parameters set by the class were the preference for using out club color scheme. Previous iterations are included below.
